Prólogo de Ócrido

1. SAN JORGE EL CONFESOR

Debido a sus grandes virtudes, que alcanzó tras una larga y difícil ordenación, Jorge fue elegido e investido como Metropolitano de Mitilene. Este santo gobernó a su rebaño espiritual con prudencia y celo hasta una avanzada edad. Cuando comenzó la persecución bajo el reinado de León V, el armenio, quien, destruyendo iconos sagrados, convocó a este santo anciano a Constantinopla para una asamblea de obispos convocada por él mismo, con la intención de interrumpir la veneración de los iconos, Jorge no solo se negó a cumplir el deseo del malvado emperador, sino que, junto con otros valientes obispos, defendió los iconos sagrados. No solo fue ridiculizado por ello, sino que también fue desterrado por el emperador a la región de Quersoneso. Allí soportó toda clase de aflicciones físicas y privaciones durante el resto de su vida. Murió y fue llevado a la vida eterna alrededor del año 816 d. C. Debido a su gran santidad y amor por el Señor Jesús, Jorge fue un gran hacedor de milagros, tanto en vida como después de su muerte.

2. EL VENERABLE NIL SORSKY

Nil es uno de los grandes Padres de la Iglesia rusa. Fue el fundador del estilo de vida monástico Scete en Rusia. Falleció en paz en el año 1508 d. C. Sus reliquias reposan en el Monasterio de Sorsky. Su "Regla de Vida" para el estilo de vida monástico Scete constituye una obra de primer orden sobre la vida espiritual y práctica del monje.

3. EL SANTO MÁRTIR CALIOPIO

Calliopius was an only son granted by God to a senator from Perga in Pamphylia after the senator had shed many tears in prayer. From his early youth his devout mother, Theoclea, taught him to respect God and to live a chaste life. Calliopius was still a youngster when a terrible persecution began during the reign of Emperor Maximian. To spare him from death, his mother placed him in a boat, gave him an ample amount of money and saw him off to the city of Pompeiopolis. However, God in His Divine Providence, planned it otherwise. Landing in Pompeiopolis he fell into the midst of a tumultuous polytheistic celebration. When Calliopius refused to participate in this ridiculous feast, at the insistence of the crazed mob, he was pushed toward Maximus the commander, before whom Calliopius confessed that he was a Christian. The commander ordered that Calliopius be beaten with lead canes and burned by fire. Wounded throughout, they cast him into prison. Learning about the tortures of her son, Theoclea distributed her entire estate to the poor and needy and with a paltry sum of money hurried to her son in prison. Upon entering the prison, Theoclea bowed down before her son and dressed his wounds. Finally, the commander pronounced the ultimate sentence. Calliopius was to be crucified on a cross. Joy and pain intermingled in the heart of his mother. When they brought her son to the place of execution, she slipped five pieces of gold to the executioners to have her son crucified, not as the Lord was, but rather upside down. Theoclea did this out of humility before the Lord. Calliopius was crucified upside down on Holy Thursday. His mother stood beneath the cross-giving praise to God. One the second day when they removed his lifeless body from the cross, she fell upon her son and she, herself, died. Thus, these two went before the Throne of the King of Glory together. They honorably suffered in the year 304 A.D.

4. THE VENERABLE DANIEL OF PEREYASLAVL

Daniel had, as a unique form of mortification, that of caring for the dead. Whenever he heard that someone was found frozen to death or that had died in some other manner, Daniel would hasten to bury him decently and to offer prayers to God for him. He died peacefully in the year 1540 A.D. His relics remain intact.

Christ is my desire: my only desire!

To crucifixion, Calliopius, they lead,

Behind him, throngs of people walk.

He, pale and peaceful, rigidly bound,

Walking quietly, bitterly tortured,

His mother to him whispers: Calliopius!

I am traveling O mother where there is no death!

Martyr of Christ, martyr glorious,

The Cross received, heavy and head first.

Over the dead body, the mother is bending:

With tears, Calliopius she bathes

And whispering quietly: Calliopius!

Here I am mother, where there is no death!

RELFECTION

"Spiritual directors should distinguish themselves from their subordinates as much as a shepherd distinguishes himself from his sheep." Thus speaks St. Isidorus of Pelusium in interpreting the First Epistle of St. Timothy. The life of a priest always serves as an example, be it good or be it bad. By an exemplary life, a priest confirms the Gospel and, by a wicked life, he denies the Gospel. No one in this world is in such a position to confirm the truth of the Gospel or to deny it in such a manner by his life, as is a priest. A good priest is distinguished from a wicked priest by his works no less than a shepherd is distinguished from a wolf. That is why a goodly portion of good priests will be with the sons of God and a goodly portion of wicked priests will be with the wild beasts of darkness. The good shepherds of the Church, even in the last moments of their lives, were concerned about their flocks which they were leaving behind. Upon his death bed, St. Joseph the Hymnographer prayed to God: "Preserve your flock, O Son of God, created by Your right hand and protect them to the end of time. Be of assistance to the beloved sons of Your Church. Grant to Your Bride [Holy Church] eternal peace and a stormless calm." St. Antipas, burning in a blazing ox, cast out of copper, prayed to God in this manner: "Not only me, but those also who would come after me, make them partakers of Your mercy."

CONTEMPLATION

To contemplate the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus:

1. How the myrrh-bearing women approached the tomb to anoint Him with myrrh and aloes. To anoint the One Who is the sweet-smelling savor of heaven and earth;

2. How the angel announces the resurrection of our Lord to them with the words: "Why do you seek the living One among the dead?" (St. Luke 24:5).

El ángel de Dios pregunta a las mujeres que llevaban mirra, como asombrado: "¿ Por qué buscáis entre los muertos al que vive ?". Como si el que comprende el misterio de Dios y su poder quisiera decir: "¿Cómo pudisteis pensar por un instante que Él es prisionero de la muerte? ¿Acaso no sabéis que Él es la fuente principal de la vida? ¿Acaso no sabéis que toda vida proviene de Él y que ningún ser vivo puede tomar prestada ni una gota de vida de ninguna otra fuente? ¿Acaso no os reveló Él plenamente su autoridad sobre la vida y la muerte en la tierra? ¿Quién dio vida al muerto Lázaro? ¿Quién le quitó la vida a la higuera estéril?".

Hermanos míos, dejemos también de buscar entre los muertos al que vive. Si alguno de nosotros aún busca a Cristo entre los muertos, que desista de este esfuerzo que destruye el alma. Este es el vano esfuerzo de los judíos, paganos y no cristianos. Sabemos que el Señor y dador de vida no está en la tumba, sino en el trono de gloria en los cielos. El espíritu, sin la oscuridad del pecado, mira al cielo y no ve la tumba; y el espíritu, oscurecido por el pecado, mira dentro de la tumba y no ve el cielo. El pecado y la virtud rigen la visión espiritual del hombre y revelan a cada uno su propio mundo, en contradicción entre sí. El pecado derriba la visión del espíritu hacia la tierra y le revela la corrupción del mundo. La virtud eleva el espíritu al cielo y le revela el mundo eterno y a Cristo resucitado como Rey en ese mundo.

Hermanos míos, no busquemos la vida en la creación, sino en el Creador. No cometamos un pecado aún más grave: no busquemos al Creador en la tumba de la creación ni al Iluminador e Inmortal en la oscuridad de la muerte.

Oh Señor Jesús, vencedor sobre la muerte, clamamos a ti: resúvenos también a la vida eterna, de la corrupción y la oscuridad de la muerte.

A Ti sea la gloria y la gratitud siempre. Amén.

Tras la gran alegría del Domingo de Santo Tomás y la bendición del Artos, iniciamos la semana con el compromiso de llevar la luz de la Resurrección a nuestra vida cotidiana. Ya no somos solo testigos de la duda de Tomás, sino portadores de su confesión.

1. El Texto del Día (Equivalente espiritual)

En sintonía con la necesidad de ser "hacedores", hoy meditamos en las palabras del Señor:

Juan 13:17: «Si sabéis estas cosas, bienaventurados seréis si las hiciereis».

Reflexión: El conocimiento de la Verdad es solo el principio; la verdadera bienaventuranza (felicidad) surge cuando nuestras manos ejecutan lo que nuestro corazón cree.

2. Santos del Prólogo de Ohrid (Tradición Serbia)

San Jorge el Confesor, Obispo de Mitilene: Un modelo de caridad activa. No se limitó a predicar, sino que repartió todos sus bienes entre los necesitados y defendió con firmeza la fe ante la persecución, demostrando que la palabra de Dios se defiende con la vida misma.

San Nilo de Sorsk: Gran asceta que nos enseña el valor del trabajo y la humildad. Su vida nos recuerda que la espiritualidad no es ociosidad, sino un esfuerzo constante por purificar el alma a través de la labor diaria.

3. Nota Litúrgica y Lema (Karibche)

Frase del Día: «¡Gloria a Dios en las alturas! Paz en la tierra y buena voluntad entre los hombres» (Lucas 2:14).

Novedad: Hoy la Iglesia enfatiza que la Resurrección de Cristo es la fuerza que debe mover nuestras acciones. Una vez cerradas las Puertas Reales, Cristo permanece con nosotros a través de nuestra obediencia a Sus mandamientos.

4. Aplicación Práctica

Ayer recibimos el Artos en el templo según nuestra costumbre serbia. Hoy, al tenerlo en nuestro hogar, recordamos que la bendición de la Pascua ya no es algo que vamos a "oír" a la iglesia, sino algo que debemos "hacer" presente en cada conversación y tarea de este lunes.
